IT ISN’T every day the losers celebrate a 5-1 thumping and the winners dream of what might have been.
But that’s what unfolded as Enfield Town – rock bottom at New Year – completed a Great Escape while Worthing missed out on automatic promotion and will meet Maidstone in a play-off.
Town’s Step 2 survival after gaining promotion a year ago always seemed probable going into the final round of fixtures but you could nevertheless feel the tension.
