■ FAVERSHAM only lost twice on their way to the title last season but one of them was in this fixture.
They made sure there was to be no repeat after summer recruit Harrison Pont found the net at a corner before the break to cancel out the hosts’ early opener.
VCD Athletic, promoted along with their guests from the Southern Counties East League top flight last season, had deservedly taken the lead inside quarter of an hour when Charlie Heatley converted from the penalty spot.
