CORBY TOWN boss Gary Mills believes the club have shown “great intent” with the loan signing of experienced striker Stefan Moore from Solihull Moors.

The 33-year-old signed for the Moors in December 2014 and scored 12 goals in the National League North last season as they romped to the title.

He has struggled for games following the West Midlands club’s promotion and he spent time on loan at Brackley, dropping to the bench for the past few games.

The former Aston Villa striker, who played for the Villans in the Premier League, will now spend more time away from Damson Park, teaming up with Corby on a short-term deal.

The Steelmen, relegated from the National League North last term, will be hoping Moore’s experience can boost a squad currently struggling in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier.

Monday night’s 1-0 defeat at Stourbridge leaves Corby second bottom of the table with just two wins from their 17 league games so far this season.

New boss Mills, who took over two weeks ago, told the club’s website: “I am absolutely delighted to be able to unveil Stefan as a Corby Town player, this is a huge signing for the club.

“He has a reputation for scoring goals and brings huge experience with him from his football career so far. This signing shows great intent and I would like to thank the board for backing me to make this addition.

“Having Stefan around will provide a huge boost to both the fans and the dressing room. His experience will also be vital in helping with the development of our academy players.”
