Radcliffe Borough have name change approved by The FA

Radcliffe is no longer a Borough.

Bury AFC Radcliffe FC

The have approved Borough’s request to change the club’s name to Radcliffe FC from the start of the 2018/19 season.
All references to the League North club in league and FA competitions will now be referred to as Radcliffe FC from the beginning of next season.
A club statement explained the decision: “Over the course of the 2016/17 season the Board had undertaken a series of reviews focusing on various aspects of the club, and this outcome is one that they had come to for a host of reasons. The request was then made to the Association.
“The club wishes to better identify with its community and since the governmental changes to the district, Radcliffe is no longer a Borough and was absorbed into the Metropolitan Borough of Bury in 1974, rendering the name of the club outdated, if not obsolete.
“The club is looking to modernise throughout, on and off the field, and in the way they interact with supporters, and the wider community.
“The club are community focused and want to emphasise they represent Radcliffe as the club move into its 70th year in 2019 and beyond.”
