BLYTH SPARTANS have signed Newcastle United youngster Michael Riley on a work experience deal and have also extended the stay of another Magpie, Marcus Maddison.

Left-back Riley is the nephew of former Gateshad boss Ian Bogie and has featured for Newcastle’s reserve team on a number of occasions.

Maddison, 18, has scored once in two games for the Spartans since joining them last month.

He has continued to play for the Newcastle United Under-21 side while at Croft Park and will continue to do so until his spell with Blyth comes to an end on January 6.
