■ HANLEY Town’s time in the Northern Premier League West is over as defeat against title chaser Widnes relegated them.
Tom Peterson gave Widnes the lead after just 12 minutes of play when he was able to put the ball beyond Adam Whitehouse.
Hanley came close to an equaliser on the half-hour mark when got a good header in but it was well saved by Mark Halstead.
They were made to pay for that missed chance as Sean Lawton turned the ball into his own goal just four minutes before the interval to double Widnes lead.
