PETER BAND has been appointed as the new manager of Mossley following Steve Halford’s move to Ashton United.

Halford quit the Lilywhites earlier in the week to become joint-manager of Ashton, who compete a league above Mossley in the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

His successor Band first arrived at Seel Park in August 2011, joining them as a player and going on to make over 40 appearances during the 2011/12 campaign.

He became Halford’s number two last season and took a backseat on the playing side of things, featuring just six times.

Band has now been handed the reins following Halford’s shock departure and will be in charge for their pre-season away at Chadderton on Monday.
