A CROWDFUNDER page has been started to raise funds for Slough Town’s Mark Scott after the keeper suffered a shattered vertebra in his lower neck.

Former Swindon Town, Salisbury and Oxford City stopper Scott was in goal for the Rebels on Saturday against Basingstoke when a sickening collision left him with the serious neck injury.

After a number of tests and scans at Wexham Park Hospital in Slough, it was confirmed that Scott had a shattered C6 vertebra in his lower neck.

The keeper had an operation on Monday at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford which went well and specialists have high hopes he will fully recover from the injury.

A long road back to fitness lies ahead for Scott, who will be unable to work as a trainee accountant for up to three months, but potentially longer.

The club, currently flying high in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier, have started a Crowdfunder page to try and raise some funds for Scott while he is out of action. The Crowdfunder page can be accessed by clicking on this link .

Scott himself said: “The operation went well. They have taken a bit of hip bone to fuse the metal plate to my neck which is now stable.

“I have so many people to thank, it has been an insane few days. The amount of kind messages I have received is in the hundreds, we have found them so overwhelming. Just goes to show what a positive community football can be.”
