■ CONGLETON Town’s first season back in the Northern Premier League West ended with a goalless draw as they secured a third-place finish.
With both sides having one eye on the playoffs, it was a scrappy contest with few clear chances.
The Bears were marginally the better side and felt aggrieved to see a Max McCarthy goal ruled out for offside after he latched onto Tom Hampton’s pass. In the final minute of play, Congleton created a scramble from a corner, but, frustratingly, they couldn’t force the ball over the line.
