Struggling Hednesford Town sack Bernard McNally

BERNARD MCNALLY has been sacked as manager of , ending his second spell in charge of the Pitmen.

McNally, 52, took the reins at Key Park in September after Rob Smith and Larry Chambers opted to return to .

However, the former Shrewsbury and West Brom midfielder's second spell at the club has been a tough one and the Pitmen won just three of his games in charge.

Just one of those victories came in the North and the club are now 18th in the league, one point above the relegation zone.

A club statement read: “It is with regret that we have to announce that Bernard McNally has been relieved of his duties at Hednesford Town Club today, after a meeting last night to discuss the club's current position.

“Over the past three months the team have only won one of the last eleven league games and have slipped to 18th place in the North and it is felt that a different approach is needed at this time.

“Bernard, a highly regarded former player of the club, is a fine football coach and one of the most genuine people in the game and we wish him well for the future.”
