Petersfield Town boss John Robson quits struggling club at half-time!

PETERSFIELD TOWN have confirmed that manager John Robson quit the struggling club – midway through their home defeat to Kidlington on Saturday.

Experienced former Gosport Borough, Winchester City, Andover Town, Blackfield and Langley, Worthing and Dover manager Robson walked out at half-time, the club have claimed.

The Rams were 3-0 down at that point and with relegation from the Evo-Stik League Southern Central all but confirmed, Robson seemingly had enough.

A Petersfield tweet confirmed: “Can officially confirm manager John Robson walked out at half time after quitting from his role.”

Petersfield did mount a comeback of sorts in the second half but still went down 4-2 to leave them 20 points adrift of safety at the bottom of the table.

It’s been an interesting second spell in charge of the Rams for Robson, who helped the club into the Ryman League back in the 1980s.

He returned to the Hampshire club in October, becoming their third manager in two months following a poor start to the season.

Robson was sacked just a month into the job but then got reinstated days later with chairman Graeme Moir admitting the decision to part with the veteran boss was a “flawed one”.

However, results on the pitch haven’t improved and the Rams have picked up just one point in their last 15 games with a return to Step 5 looking unavoidable.
