Bromley forward George Porter has admitted breaching The Football Association’s rules on betting and has been suspended from all football and football related activity.
The 27-year-old was charged by The FA for a Breach of FA Rules Betting E8 – Misconduct under FA Rule E1(b) in respect of 473 bets placed on football matches between 13 December 2011 and 12 May 2019. A paper hearing has been requested.
Porter is in his fourth season with the Ravens after signing in the summer of 2016 and has made five appearances this term.
He started his career at Cray Wanderers and his form led to a move to Football League side Leyton Orient in 2010. He had loan spells at Lewes and Hastings United but his performances for the O’s attracted the attention of Burnley, in the Championship, who he signed for in 2012.
He joined Colchester United and then AFC Wimbledon in respective loan spells before signing permanently at Rochdale. Porter then moved to Dagenham & Redbridge, Maidstone United and Welling before signing at Bromley.
On Porter’s suspension, Bromley commented: “Until the written reasons from the hearing have been published, Bromley FC, George Porter and The FA are unable to release any further details relating to the charge at this stage.”
