FORMER England defender and top Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has a new job in football – at National League North side Marine.
Carragher, who lives near the club’s Rossett Park home in Crosby, north Liverpool, has agreed to support the club in an advisory capacity, assisting the board with his connections across football, business and the local community.
The Mariners are embarking on their most ambitious period to date, including plans for a new stadium and continued growth on and off the pitch.
And Carragher, who made 737 appearances for Liverpool, winning the Champions League in 2005, is delighted to climb on board with the ambitious club.
“Marine is a proper community football club with good people involved and a clear vision for where it wants to go,” the 48-year-old said. “I’ve enjoyed watching the progress the club has made over recent years and I’m pleased to be able to support the club in an advisory capacity going forward.”
Marine have enjoyed rapid progression over the last five years, including two promotions, a historic FA Cup third round tie
an FA Trophy semi-final appearance this season. Of Carragher’s involvement, CEO James Leary said: “This is a brilliant moment for Marine FC.
“Jamie is someone who genuinely cares about football and the local community, and he’s followed closely what we’ve been building here over the last few years.
“His experience and relationships will be a huge help to the club as we continue moving Marine forward over the coming years.” against Tottenham and
