DAN MAGUIRE enjoyed winning the Evo-Stik NPL Premier with Blyth Spartans so much he turned down a full-time move to Gateshead.
The 24-year-old striker scored 30 times as Spartans won promotion as well as the Northumberland Senior Cup.
His performances once again caught the eye of Heed boss Neil Aspin – a long time admirer of Maguire’s – but their offer wasn’t enough to entice Maguire away.
His goals were key for Blyth as they returned to Step 2 and that’s why he beat a number of great players to win the Brandon Hire Step 3&4 Player of the Year.
