Cheshunt

chairman Dean Williamson has spoken out following the confirmation that the club have been deducted three points for field an ineligible player.

The Ambers had their appeal against the decision thrown out by The FA but, due to the circumstances surrounding the misdemeanor, were not  ordered to pay any additional costs.

Speaking about the FA Appeals Panel’s decision, Williamson said: “I’m extremely disappointed at the verdict but understand how the decision was reached. “Cheshunt Club followed the normal and expected procedure in registering players and we had no way of knowing that the player in question was ineligible. “The FA and Ryman League accepted our position and expressed their sympathies, but unfortunately rules are rules.

“We have dealt with the player internally and we will be working closely with the League and FA to ensure that these circumstances do not arise again.”
The Ambers drop three places to 14th in Ryman Division One North following the points deduction.
