NO-BRAINER: Pete Band

PETE BAND says the lure of boyhood club Macclesfield FC proved just too much to turn down.

Band quit as boss of NPL South East side to become the phoenix club's first ever assistant manager, under Danny Whitaker.

“Excited isn't really the word,” Band told Macclesfield FC's website. “I've watched Macclesfield since I was a kid, so after being given this opportunity, I can't wait to get going!

“If it had been any other club then I probably would have stayed where I was, but as soon as I found out that Macclesfield wanted me to come here, then it was a no-brainer really.”

Band had previously been player-manager and joint-manager [with Lloyd Morrison] at before the pair linked up again at Glossop North End in October 2018. He took sole charge when Morrison left at the start of last season.

The club said in a statement: “It is with regret that Glossop North End wishes to announce that on Thursday afternoon the club accepted the resignation of Pete Band from his position as Manager at GNE.

“Pete leaves The Amdec Forklift Stadium to team up in the newly reformed Macclesfield FC set-up as assistant manager to player-manager, Danny Whitaker.

“Pete was approached by his hometown club to join the set up at the Leasing.com Stadium, and with a heavy heart, has decided to join them.”

They continued: “Glossop North End would like to put on record their sincere thanks to Pete for his time and efforts at the club since his arrival in October 2018.
