Slough Town and Alan Julian part ways after winless start

Alan Julian’s reign at Slough Town lasted just four months, with the club parting company with their manager on Sunday as the Rebels languished in the relegation zone without a point.

A sixth straight defeat to Braintree Town at the weekend compounded a disappointing start to their National League South campaign.

Julian arrived at Arbour Park following a spell in charge of league rivals Hampton & Richmond Borough, taking over from Scott Davies, who left for National League side Aldershot Town in April.

The 43-year-old former Billericay Town, Stevenage, Gillingham and Bromley goalkeeper suffered defeat on the opening day to Dover Athletic in a thrilling contest that ended 5-3.

Gutted

His side suffered by the same scoreline to his former employers, as well as narrow losses against Farnham Town, Folkestone Invicta and Dagenham & Redbridge.

On his departure, Slough Town CEO Ashley Smith said: “Alan is an extraordinary individual who brought complete professionalism and deep commitment to our club every single day.

“The level of care and dedication he showed to the players, staff, and community was remarkable.

“I am genuinely gutted that things haven’t worked out the way we all hoped.

“Alan and Don leave with our sincere respect and gratitude, and I wish them both the absolute best in their next chapter.”

Take charge

Julian ended his playing career at Hampton & Richmond in 2024, then moved into a goalkeeper coaching role at the club before taking the manager’s job in May 2024.

His first season was mixed but ultimately successful in terms of survival.

Hampton finished 18th in National League South in 2024/25, with Julian recording 14 wins, nine draws and 23 defeats from 46 league games.

He then remained in charge into the following season but left the Beavers by mutual consent in December 2025, following a difficult run of results.

In a statement, Slough confirmed that assistant manager Donovan Chislett will also leave with immediate effect, while Johnny Goddard, Ryan Case and Henry Ochieng will take charge of the first team for the foreseeable future.

The trio will begin their spell in charge with Tuesday evening’s National League South fixture away at Salisbury.
