New boy George Smith wants to find joy at Darlington

new boy George Smith says getting back out on the pitch after last season's curtailment is his only focus.

He has since had spells with , Northampton and , and loan stints with Dover and Boston, before being part of Harrogate Town's promotion into the Football League.

Last season he was a regular back at Gateshead before the campaign was curtailed over funding issues.

But after joining Alun Armstrong's Quakers, he insists trying to get a return to full-time football isn't his main priority.

“I want to get back out there and play football again,” Smith told the club's website. “I know it is a good club – I've played against Darlington a lot of times and always had good games against them.

“The manager has obviously seem me play quite a few times. I've played against him when he was at Blyth and obviously here so the attraction is getting back enjoying football after last season.”

Armstrong said: “He's got plenty of pace, so he'll be quite an asset to us.”
