Chorley FC boss Andy Preece hailed his makeshift side as ‘excellent’ after they gave Wigan Athletic a run for their money.
A combination of the Magpies’ first team, youth prospects and trialists put on a strong display against Ryan Lowe’s Latics.
Preece said: “I thought we were excellent, really, really good in what was a really good game.
“It felt like a real, proper game where both sets of players could sink their teeth into it, get tested, and I think we more than matched them in the first half.”
