National League South awards Slough's Neil Baker and John Underwood

September’s National League South awards handed out by MANarama

September’s winners of the MANarama National League South monthly manager, player and volunteer awards are celebrating after being unveiled today (Friday).
Slough Town’s double act of Neil Baker and John Underwood proved that two heads are better than one to collect the National League South managerial accolade. Another Rebel, Warren Harris, earned September’s player award as he lit up Slough’s surge up the table. Dartford’s Geoff Ashburn was declared the division’s top volunteer.
MANarama National League South Manager of the Month – Neil Baker and John Underwood, Slough Town
They are the young, up-and-coming managerial pair who are actually closing in on their 500th match at the helm.
It’s now nine years since Jon Underwood and Neil Baker, once affectionately dubbed the touchline Ant & Dec, started their own show.
While the Geordie duo goes together brilliantly, many still maintain joint managers just don’t work. Well, they’ve once again proved that theory wrong after another magical month.
Wins over Hemel Hempstead Town, Eastbourne Borough, Hampton & Richmond Borough and Dartford rubbished Slough Town’s slow start. It took them up into the play-off places as well.
There is something about the Rebels and September.
Last year they did exactly the same, winning every one of their National League South games and progressed in the FA Cup.
But last season they missed the play-off boat. Can they go one step for a year on?

MANarama National League South Player of the Month – Warren Harris, Slough Town
Everyone’s talking about Wealdstone in the Vanarama National League South, aren’t they?
Wrong. With four-straight wins, Slough Town are upsetting the conversation just a little bit – no small part down to Warren Harris.
The Rebels scored impressive wins against Hampton & Richmond Borough, Dartford, Eastbourne Borough and in-form Hemel Hempstead Town.
They say one man doesn’t make a team, but where would Slough be without Harris?
He scored the winner against Eastbourne and Hemel Hempstead meaning without his goals, Town would only just be in the top ten – take out his goals across the season and Slough would be way down in 16th.

MANarama National League South Volunteer of the Month – Geoff Ashburn, Dartford
Geoff Ashburn of Dartford has won Volunteer of the Month in the National League South.
As well as being the Club Treasurer, Geoff works daily at Princes Park, helping with groundwork, building projects and general maintenance.
On matchdays, Geoff runs the Club Shop at the stadium and organises fundraising activities, including a 50/50 raffle and golden goal.
Over recent years, he has saved the Club substantial finances as a result of the generosity in giving up his free time to assist the Club in any way he can.
The Club believe Geoff fully deserves the award and are delighted to see him recognised for his efforts.
