Police called to Ryman Premier game after brawl

A GROUP of police officers had to be called to the Town v game on Saturday after late disturbance.

Following Billericay's last-minute equaliser by Alex Stephenson, tempers flared and both sets of players collided.

Officers had to be called to bring the chaos under control following the final whistle with fans reportedly joining the fracas.

The unsavoury scenes overshadowed the great fightback from visiting Billericay at the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium.

Bobby Devyne and Corey Whiteley gave Enfield a two-goal advantage at the break but Craig Edwards' side fought back.

Teddy Naisbitt got the first for the Blues before Stephenson's late equaliser sparked the unfortunate incident.

Billericay substitute Ola Williams tweeted: “Players safety comes first. How has the Enfield security allowed the Enfield fans to come into the tunnel to start a fight with Billericay players.”
